Presentation
  • Sensitize your fingertips before doing this presentation.
  • Invite the child to the presentation.
  • Show the child how to carry the tablets, and have the child bring the tablets to the table.
  • Take out both pairs of the roughest and smoothest tablets. Place one rough and one smooth tablet in one pile and the other pair in another pile.
  • Place one of the tablets in front of the child.
  • Close your eyes. Feel the tablet with your right hand, three middle fingers. Make several strokes downwards. Invite the child to feel the tablet.
  • Place the tablet near the top of the table.
  • Feel the next tablet from that same pile in the same manner as you just did the first tablet.
  • Place the tablet near the top of the table.
  • “Now we are going to match these sets of tablets.
  • Place the blindfold over your eyes.
  • Match up the tablets that are stacked with the tablets that you already felt. To do this, pick one of the tablets from the pile and place it in the center of the table. Feel the tablet in the same way you felt the tablets before. Then feel the first tablet in line at the top of the table (furthest left tablet). Then feel the tablet in the center of the table. If they are a match, bring the tablet at the top of the table down to be next to the tablet in the center. Feel them both to verify, and stack them. Place the pair to the left side of the table. If they are not a match, feel the next tablet in line at the top of the table.
  • Keep doing this until you have found a match for each of the tablets. When each of the tablets has a match, and they are stacked on top of one another on the left side of the table, take off the blindfold and see how you did.
  • When the child is ready, do this presentation with the rest of the tablets in the box.
